I am always inspired when I attend conferences like this. Dr. Tim Tyson here really blew my mind telling us what schools, teachers and students in other parts of the country are doing to implement web 2.0 technology in the classroom. His lecture will be availabe on the web next week, and I'll try to post the link on this blog so everyone can see it.

Mr. Ladner Meeting Slated for Thursday, Feburary 11
FROM Mr. Ladner:
I am sorry for the confusion of the mistake I made on the first notice of the meeting on March 11, 2010.
The meeting will be on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 6:30 P.M. at CES (Weather permitting).
I am sorry for the conflict with our Basketball teams in district tournament play. I wish all of them success. It is hard to schedule anything this time of the year without a conflict. This is an important meeting to share timely information with the public.
Thanks for your understanding and support.
Monte Ladner

Free Stuff Via the Web
There was the neatest and most informative presentation at Monday's MECA conference about free educational tools teachers and parents could get from the web. I've created a Google document that will allow you to access the presentation. If you are interested in it, please email me or leave a post. Thanks, JH.

This spring semester will fly by, so take advantage of the tools and resources SLE offers you. I am committed to helping the children, parents, and teachers of SLE in any way I can. Please plan to attend the PTO meeting January 14 at 6 p.m. to learn more.- JH
In Case of Bad Weather…
January sometimes brings with it bad winter weather. In the event we have to close school, you will receive an automated phone call from the superintendent’s office. Please make sure the school has your most current phone number on file. SLE will also try to alert you by letter when possible. You can also find out about school closing information by listening to Kicks 98, KIX 107.5 and WJMI 99.7 on the radio. All three major television stations in Jackson will also carry school closing news for your information. Let’s hope that we don’t have to call off school. If we do, we will have to make it up in the spring!
