From the Principal:
SLE and other schools in the district are experiencing tremendously unfortunate cuts in staff as school budgets are slashed. The pressure to maintain student achievement remains while our resources are decreasing. Teachers, students, parents, administrators and the community need to work together now more than ever to ensure that children are prepared for the future. Plan to attend our PTO meeting March 4 for additional news and information. Contact me at 253-2324 or through www.schoolnotes.com.

Library Organizes Dr. Seuss Week
In conjunction with NEA’s Read Across America, SLE will celebrate the life and works of Theodor Seuss Geisel, a man better known as Dr. Seuss.
The week’s activities include:
Mixed Up Monday – wear clothing backwards/or inside out;
Theodor Tuesday – students learn about Theodor Geisel;
Wacky Wednesday – students wear silly socks;
Top Hat Thursday – wear your favorite red and white “Cat” hat;
Fun Food Friday – Mrs. Burkes bakes a cake for everybody!
Check-In and Check-Out Reminder
Students who miss class because of checking in late and checking out early miss valuable instruction time. Please remember that three (3) “tardies” or check-out “earlies” are the same as a day’s absence. Please do not plan to pick up students 30 minutes or less before the final bell for the day.
